This recipe is courtesy of @MattWalms‘ mother-in-law. He graciously passed it to me so I can share with you lovely lot.
This makes enough for approximately six glasses.
1 pint of water
100g/4oz of caster sugar
2-4 cinnamon sticks
2 oranges – thinly sliced
1 bottle of red wine
Boil 1 pint of water with the sugar and spices in a saucepan for 5 minutes. Add the oranges and remove from heat and set aside for 15 minutes. Stir in wine
Heat slowly without boiling. Serve in preheated glasses.
EDIT: We have since started adding a good splash of cherry brandy to this. Because MORE BOOZE is always welcome.
Born in Scotland in the mid 70’s, Bee was brought up on a diet of fish fingers, spaghetti hoops, and crispy pancakes. But never the deep fried Mars Bar.
Okay, maybe once, but she didn’t swallow.
Today, after a decade in Manchester, Bee has returned to Scotland and resides in Glasgow. She posts a mixture of recipes tried and tested at home.
